I love the movie Freaky, great kills, lots of laughs and an awesome ending. In this video I’ll show you how I printed and finished this super textured and detailed Blissfield Butcher mask the body switching blade, the La Dola. I’ll use a lot of different painting techniques like dry brushing and using natural sponges to create leather effects on EVA foam. This was a really fun one.
Category Archives: PLA 3D Filament
PLA 3D Filament is the most popular 3D filament for hobbyists and professionals. Unlike ABS, PLA has a lower melting point and therefore although it is best to print it with a heated bed, it does not need one. PLA also doesn’t need to be printed in an enclosure. Since it’s not petroleum based, but made of organic material, it also doesn’t have a noxious odor when melted. It also finishes very well via sanding. But there are drawbacks to PLA 3D Filament. With its lower melting point the final prints are susceptible to warping and melting under high or medium heat. But this problem does not overpower the ease of use and low cost of the filament.
Average Price: $15-$20 for 1.75 mm, 1kg spool
PLA print temperature range: 180°C – 230°C (low)
PLA Pros
- No noxious fumes
- Easier to work with compared to ABS
- Less susceptible to warping
- Available in special materials such as glow-in-the-dark and clear
PLA Cons
- Can clog the printer nozzle
- Less sturdy than ABS
In this video I’ll cover how to paint, clear coat and detail 3D printed parts. Painting is not difficult but there are some rules you should follow to get the best finish. The main rule is patience, don’t rush coats or dry times.
In this video I’ll cover How to Sand, Fill and Prime 3D Printed Parts. A lot of people ask me how do I get helmets and other props so smooth. Well its not easy you have to do a lot of sanding, filling and priming. There are some key steps in-between that I’ll also cover in this video.
This is an incredibly detailed Baron Zemo helmet from the Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Solider. You can purchase the files to this helmet and other files from The Falcon and the Winter Solider on my site. Use the coupon below. 🙂
Another amazing Iron Man model modeled by Sanix that I printed with my standard CR-10 3D printer and did a lot of sanding and filling to finish the 3D print to have a nice smooth surface to take the paint well and to look sharp.
